Obituary

Michael Milo, originally of The Bronx, New York, passed away on April 18 in Miami, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.

Michael leaves behind his only son Justin Milo, who was the light of his life. He found his greatest joy in being Justin’s biggest fan —watching him play baseball and hockey from childhood through every level of competition. Michael seemed to remember every goal Justin scored and home run he hit — and even the team it was against.

Though a New Yorker at heart, Michael spent several years living in Minnesota. There, he practiced law and coached youth sports.

Michael shared his life with his loving partner, Mercedes Gomez, for whom he moved to Florida. They were deeply connected and shared many beautiful moments. Michael and Mercedes loved to travel together and visit family and friends in New Mexico, the DC area and Canada.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Judah Milo, and is also survived by his brother Sheldon Milo.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Michael will be laid to rest on April 22 at 11:15am at Star of David Memorial Gardens in North Lauderdale, FL. In keeping with Jewish tradition, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to causes Michael was actively supporting — Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces (fidf.org) or Tunnel to Towers foundation (t2t.org).
